Detailed Job Specification: 

Our client is currently seeking a high calibre candidate with experience of buying in the Far East

Some roles will have a greater bias towards purchasing and some towards estimating. However, an overriding ability to project manage is a key function of this role. Ability to collaborate with peers and communicate outside the department with a considered approach is key to the success of this role.

With assistance buyer / estimator must organise and report on progress in an accurate and timely manner on:

1. Project Management

a. CDP projections
i. Review of customer CDP
ii. Presentations and agreement of internal and supplier CDPs
b. Forecasting by volume and suppliers
c. Product development
i. Ensuring any non-standard products reviewed, and necessary testing / development is organised prior to the release of the product.
d. Problem solving
i. Proactive approach to problem solving required including:
1. Discussion / advice from peers.
2. Summarising and communication solutions to colleagues.

2. Numeracy

a. Advanced user of MS Excel
b. Ability to prepare financial / progress reports and manipulate data.
c. Ability to interrogate their own work (and that of colleagues) to ensure accuracy of information presented to the business.

3. Margin control

a. Projections based on category mix and historical analysis
b. Estimated margins v’s purchasing margins providing summaries of variances
c. Recommendations for cost reduction / margin improvements
i. Timing / CDP – avoid airfreight
ii. Specification – present options to reduce costs
iii. Supply routes – selection of least cost manufacturing solution

4. Deliveries

a. Maintaining, expediting and reprioritising supplier schedules to achieve CDPs.
b. Summarising project status
c. Air freight reduction & liability
d. Cost recovery
e. Ensuring delivery on time to meet retail launch targets

5. Suppliers

a. Maintain clear lines of communication with all suppliers.
b. Build and maintain supplier relationships.
c. It will be necessary to meet with suppliers at their factory / offices, hence overseas travel will be required.
d. Summarising supplier performance: lead times, service, quality
e. Cost recovery

6. Staff development and well being

a. Providing support to staff, ensuring their well being and development.
b. Mentoring, training and development of the junior members of the team.
c. Managing holidays and resource cover cross categories
d. Assessing recruitment and training requirements
